Speaking of characters, there are A LOT of them. The game is a throw back to old school RPGs, with beautiful 3D background and cute little sprites for characters. If you played the first 2 games then you know what to expect. This is good old fashioned fun that will last for hours. This is not a Final Fantasy VII or later game and makes no attempts to be one. I would recommend this to all fans of old school RPGs. This can get costly though if you keep feeding it top dollar items. The play mechanics differ slightly versus 1 and 2 in that you can more accurately control what your pet will do based on what you feed it. This journey is quite a bit longer t han its predecessors and is much more involved. The music is outstanding on the PSP, which is to be expected. The graphics are somewhat improved versus the old SNES RPGs but the gameplay is pretty much the same as anything from the 16 bit era. This is a throw back to the days of the Super Nintendo and all the classic RPGs it brought with it. This game is classic 16 bit RPG gaming at its best. You can incorporate the save files from the other two games to unlock new areas where you can get power ups and rack up the experience. If you own the other two games in the series, this game is a must have. Much to my amazement, this is not that much like its predecessors.
